Frequently Asked Questions

A life coach is qualified to support, encourage, challenge and motivate you to be your best and achieve your goals. Being a good "active" listener, a life coach helps you take action to improve yourself. They identify your strengths and weaknesses, help you overcome obstacles, and celebrate your success. And because they are 100% dedicated to you and your future, they keep you focused and help you identify people and resources you may not have considered.

It's also important to define what a life coach is not. A life coach is not a magical genie that grants wishes. You have to actually want to change and improve your life before seeking out a life coach.

Life coaching is targeted at anyone who wants to overcome their obstacles, boost their self-confidence, and meet their personal goals -- especially if they struggle to achieve that on their own. If you have a strong desire for change and improvement and need the help of a guide, then life coaching is for you.

Using the Wheel of Life (one of my special life coaching tools), we first identify what goals you want to achieve with your relationships, health and/or career.

Your goals are then spread out across several sessions, with milestones determined for each of them. Each session starts with a review of your progress so far, followed by helpful recommendations on how you can overcome any new or persistent obstacles.

The techniques used during the sessions are based on Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) principles.

Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) is the study of how we think and communicate with ourselves and others, and how we can use this to get the results we want. NLP focuses on establishing successful behaviours.

The sessions last for about an hour. These sessions can be weekly, fortnightly or monthly, depending on your schedule and the speed at which you can take tangible action to achieve your goals.

This depends on what you want to achieve with coaching. Most people come to a coach with a life-changing goal in mind. To achieve this, we break it up into smaller goals to be accomplished over time to help you complete your big, hairy, audacious goal. Depending on your personality, drive and commitment, this may take as little as 6 sessions up to a maximum of 13. It’s all up to you.

During your coaching sessions, we will focus on a number of things to help you improve your life. These include:

  • Goals – The building blocks of success
  • Resources and Milestones - Where to get help and how success will be measured
  • Beliefs – The positive and negative thoughts helping or hampering your goals
  • Motivation – The drive you need to overcome limiting beliefs and thrive
  • Values – The fundamental beliefs that will set you up for lasting success
  • Rules – Instructions to help you reach your goals faster
  • The Six Human Needs – What you need to satisfy in order to live a happier, more fulfilling life
  • Communication Projection – How to voice your needs and be clearly heard
  • Responsibility – Understanding your goals, their requirements and the accountability you need to take
  • Questions – How to ask and get truly meaningful answers to life’s biggest challenges
  • Purpose – The meaning of life and your ultimate role in it

Most of the coaching happens face-to-face in a safe, quiet space where we can totally focus on you. If you have a busy schedule, I also offer phone call coaching at scheduled times convenient to you.

Simple: be committed to change. Being positive, honest and open to new solutions will help you get the maximum benefits of coaching. You will need to complete the actions set out in each session to ensure you're advancing towards your goals. In return, I will give you boundless motivation, support, and encouragement within a confidential and non-judgemental environment.
